Whisky connoisseurs who missed the first batch of one-of-a-kind limited edition “Chivas Exclusive lebua Blend” at Alfresco 64 – A Chivas Bar, now have another opportunity to sample it with the arrival of the second batch from Scotland of the select blend.
In March this year, The Dome at lebua and Pernod Ricard unveiled the “Chivas Exclusive lebua Blend” to commemorate the opening of the new signature whisky retreat on the 64th floor, which combines dizzying vistas of the city with a world-class whisky degustation experience. Only 96 individually numbered bottles are available of this special blend and the first batch of 24 that arrived for the launch sold out within four months. The second consignment arrived this month and is now available for connoisseurs at the bar. Created by Chivas Regal Custodian Master Blender, Colin Scott, the Chivas Exclusive lebua Blend, is the first time in the history of the luxury whisky brand that it has blended a whisky exclusively for one specific partner. Composed of the finest whisky distilled in 1985 or earlier, it was laid down in a selection of casks including American Oak. Following maturation in these casks for many years, they were then individually nosed and only the best were selected for this bespoke blend. After expertly marrying the chosen whiskies, the resulting blend was then left to rest in a First Fill Sherry Butt of exceptional quality. Over the following nine years, the blend developed its unique rich and smooth character with an undeniable intense flavor: a whisky of superlative quality, with rich fruity notes intermingled with a fantastic sherry character from a single cask.
The world’s highest whisky bar, the design concept of Alfresco 64 – A Chivas Bar draws inspiration from the sleek lines of a luxury yacht and is divided into three parts with the first section, an indoor area exquisitely set to resemble an opulent yacht cabin, featuring lacquered rosewood flooring and sunken seating. The bar counter is meticulously made of large pieces of wood accentuated with curves and silver metal lines which resemble the dynamic lines of a luxury vessel. The front of the bar takes its design cues from a yacht’s bridge. The second section is the Heritage Room, specially created for VVIPs and can be used for a variety of special events ranging from private parties to whisky tastings. The last and most outstanding feature of the bar is the outdoor area. Beautifully designed to resemble the prow of a luxury yacht, it juts out over the side of the building. It features comfortable couches and chairs, teak flooring, while a glass railing all along the edge allows for majestic views of the Chao Phraya River as you sip your drink of choice.
